My wife issued a challenge last night: if I wanted to start running with her, we should nut-up and train for a half-marathon. Specifically, the Shamrock ½ Marathon on March 22, 2009 in Virginia Beach.
I’d like to extend the invitation to the ColdFusion community. I know that the CF Biggest Loser challenge motivated a number of people when Ray ran it earlier this year. Mine won’t be as cool or as organized — it’s just an invite to join along on your own and give you a goal. Sorry, but I can’t offer or promise any prizes, beyond the bragging rights. I’m lame, I know.
But! If you do decide to join us in Virginia Beach in March, I will promise not to run anywhere near you so that you don’t have to spend time telling everyone around you that you don’t actually know the guy that jogs like a total dork.
That’s just 24 weeks from now. I have worked up a training schedule based on the one that got me up to and through the Gate River Run 15K earlier this year. It’s nice and easy, but over those 24 weeks does have me hitting mile number 450 just before I cross the finish line. My easiest week is this week with just 10 miles to run, with the worst being the first week in March when I run 24 miles over 3 days. If you’d like a copy of that schedule to base your own off of, let me know.
