I ran my first 5K this morning: the Seasons 52 Park Avenue 5.2k. I’m not a huge fan of 5Ks—I take too long to warm up, so the run is over just about when I’m getting into my stride.
But, it was a fun run on a nice route, so I’m certainly not complaining. As near as I can tell, I finished in under 30 minutes, which is a personal best.
One of my students came into class this morning and said he ran it in 19 minutes. I am not old. I am not old. I am not old.
Update: My chip time for the 5K was 29:04—a perfectly cromulent time, I think. (“Chip time” measures the time from when I crossed the starting line to the time I crossed the finish line. This is in contrast to “gun time” a.k.a. “clock time”, which starts when the race starts, not when I personally start.)
